Věra Jourová – Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency

The European Commission has recently presented the European Democracy Action Plan aimed at “building more resilient democracies across the EU”.

The Plan consists of several parts, and media-related measures play a prominent role in strengthening democracy. Support for free and independent media and countering disinformation represents an essential part of the Plan. Further, it focuses on strengthening media freedom and media pluralism, safety of journalists, and foresees “sustainable funding for projects on legal and practical assistance to journalists in the EU and elsewhere”.

The conversation with the Vice President Věra Jourová will focus on understanding details about the Action Plan as well and its practical implications for media: journalists, media owners and other media professionals.
