Closing Ceremony of the Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence

The ERSTE Foundation and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) cordially invite the members of the Presseclub Concordia to participate in the closing event of the Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence.

Every year, 10 journalists are commissioned to bring compelling longform stories from 14 countries between the Balkans and the Baltic coast. Their output takes the form of features, analysis and investigations, presented in depth for a global audience. The Fellowship provides the journalists with the financial and sustained editorial support required to uncover the processes shaping societies and democracies in the region.

The Fellowship, a cooperation between ERSTE Foundation and BIRN, has been running since 2007. More than 150 journalists have so far participated in this world-class programme for professional advancement. The generation of Fellows that was selected in May 2021 will be honoured by a ceremony, and the best three articles will receive an additional award. Also present on this evening: the new generation of Fellows selected in April 2023 and the members of the selection committee.

We would be happy to welcome you at this casual evening event to meet journalists from the 14 countries covered by the Fellowship, including Poland, Romania, Serbia, Greece, Croatia, Albania and the Czech Republic. After the official part, there will be enough time, drinks and food to help you get to know new colleagues during conversations.
