Daniela Kraus Biography
Daniela Kraus is the Secretary-General of Presseclub Concordia.
Daniela Kraus has been Secretary General of the Presseclub Concordia since January 2019. Since 1859, Austrian Presseclub Concordia has been advocating as a guardian of press freedom and ethical standards in journalism. As General Secretary, Daniela Kraus is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the world’s oldest press club as well as the renowned Concordia Ball, combining her education and interests in an ideal way. Kraus holds a PhD in history and has worked in journalism, media consulting, practice-oriented media research, and education. From 2011–2018, she founded and directed the training institution “fjum_forum journalismus und medien,” and from 2005–2011, she was the managing director and founding partner of the independent research institute “Medienhaus Wien.” Her main areas of interest and expertise include media policy and the transformation of journalism through technological and societal innovation.
Kraus has designed and conducted numerous studies and research projects on journalism and media. She is the co-editor of the book series Journalismus-Report and has developed curricula for journalism education programs. In 2021/22, she was a Policy Fellow at the Centre for Science and Policy (CSaP), University of Cambridge.
She serves on the supervisory board of LiterarMechana, is a jury member of the Vienna Media Initiative, an advisory board member of the Journalistinnenkongress and the Kontext-Institut, and chairs the jury for the Claus Gatterer Prize for Outstanding Journalism. Since 2025, Kraus has been a member of the advisory board of the DATUM Foundation as well as the Expert Council of the Media Forward Fund.
